Top 5 Ways to Eat Chia

The chia seed is extremely flexible in a variety of recipes from sweet to savory, and can easily add more nutrition to any snack or meal!


Our Favourite 5:

  1. In a smoothie:  just blend all ingredients for a few seconds, then let it sit in the liquid of your smoothie for a few minutes before finishing blending.
  2. A nutrient dense garnish: stir chia into oatmeal, yogurt or granola to start your day out right with lots of fiber, Omega 3 and protein.
  3. As a thickener in any recipe. For example, try adding two tablespoons to fruit pies, by combining it with the sugar and spices, then tossing the fruit in.  As the fruit releases its juices in baking, the chia absorbs it, and thickens the pie.  Your fruit pie will have a great consistency, and much more nutrition than with any other thickener, such as cornstarch or flour.
  4. As an egg replacer! The amount of chia will vary per recipe, but a quick rule of thumb is to substitute about each egg in the recipe with 1 tablespoon of chia.
